ack on the 24-7 Homeless Site at the corner of Elizabeth St and Martin Place. 

•  Council staff member David asked that we "not make it personal" as his children were seeing it on Facebook. We suggest that this Council Worker cease and desist from carrying out the illegal orders of his bosses-and that they stop carrying out the desires of their Corporate masters and START LISTENING TO THEIR VOTERS.
• Council Staff member David stated that "we should keep it cleaner." Perhaps a fair request but for the fact that Council Steal our brooms dustpans bins rubbish bags. Occupiers and our Homeless community do everything we can to keep the area as clean as possible.
• On Council's apparent offer of negotiations, we are fair and reasonable people. The basis for negotiations will be for a) Council to cease and desist their theft of our resources.b) Council to make good all damage and removals costs including de-contamination they have done to resources previously taken. c) That Occupy Sydney 24-7 Homeless Hungry and Cold Peoples Resource remain at the current site near the corner of Elizabeth St and Martin Place AND continue to operate 24 hours a day AND continue to serve freshly cooked nutritious food to those who cannot afford it.
• Occupy Sydney's Position is Clear. The Council has no powers to prevent anybody giving away food. Occupy Sydney participants have (with one exception) NOT been served with ANY notice-a time sensitive requirement under the legislation which City of Sydney purports to enact. The Fact that after 23 Attacks not one Charge or violation notice has been issued invites the inference and empowers the assertion that THE COUNCIL KNOW THEIR ACTIONS ARE ILLEGAL but choose to use public resources to carry out illegal bullying attacks on a peaceful protest and homeless service in support of some Councillors desires.
• Council had ample time PRIOR to initiating attacks to negotiate and did not do so or make any attempt.
• Should Council wish to enter into discussions, Mayor Clover Moore AND Councillor Christine Forster are welcome to call (0410722000) and make an appointment so that PUBLIC and TRANSPARENT Negotiations can take place at the Occupy Sydney site. Other Council Officers welcome but negotiations solely with the instigators. 

 

We Must Win the City of Sydney's undeclared War on the Homeless

because multi level Government (in collusion with NGOs and their peak bodies) constructed options of Coercing Homeless People into "Jail you pay for" monetisation industries OR Starvation are NOT options of the Homeless Communitys choosing.They do not empower homeless people and do NOT remove them from the cycle of marginalisation.

Yesterday the City of Sydney Council carried out their 9th Attack on The Occupy Sydney 24-7 Homeless Hungry and Cold Peoples Resource, this time stealing virtually all food and equipment.

 Occupy Sydney are again rebuilding and calling on the public and supporters to continue to support the only place in Australia where Homeless people can get Hot Food Coffee and blankets 24 hours a Day in The City of Sydney Council's undeclared War on the Homeless. 

• The City of Sydney have no Court orders to enforce.They have not issued infringement notices.There have been no charges. In our view this is because City of Sydney know that any recourse by them to legal process will fail dismally.
• The City of Sydney had not once objected to Occupy Sydney's presence protesting in Martin Place until we started the 24-7 Homeless Hungry and Cold Peoples Resource in April 2013. The Service enables Homeless people the choice to not engage with the City of Sydney or its Poverty Industry Partners who monetise Homeless People. 
• The City has NOT made adequate provision to house low income workers. It should be a civic responsibility to house all workers in its area affordably. Corporations operating from the City of Sydney CBD are massive contributors to marginalisation because they seek to take a greater share of the Country's wealth for themselves leaving less for others. What they call smart business is in fact Corporate Greed. They should not be insulated from seeing the results of their self serving handiwork.
• The City has for decades had a Homelessness Unit whose role has become to Collude with the Poverty Industry to shepherd Homeless people into "JAIL YOU PAY FOR" accommodation. Despite paying rent ,tenants are NOT free to come and go 24 hours a day (Vinnies Matthew Talbot, Salvos Foster House, Mission Australia Campbell House) and are in some examples subjected to Gestapo style unannounced room searches (Salvos Foster House). The City Council and its alliance partners consider homelessness not a problem but a commodity to be monetised. As the nett worth of Poverty Industry Operatives has increased, Homeless numbers (despite City of Sydneys fake Homeless Count) have risen and the call for more funding is always heard. If there has been a 30% decrease in Sydney City Homelessness as The City insists, why isnt there a call for a 30% decrease in funding? 
• The City of Sydney partners leverage the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program and other  taxpayer funded structures to Rent Private Market Properties and allow tenants to pay subsidised rents.This is excellent news for Property Svpeculators, bad news for Home buyers and renters as it Drives both Private Residential Rental and Purchase costs higher, adding to the affordability crisis.
•   The Occupy Sydney Homeless Hungry and Cold Peoples Resource is Australia's only 24-7 place for Homeless and Hungry People to have access to Hot Food Hot drinks and blankets. With over $700million of Federal Funding at their disposal via The Road Home alone one might have thought one of the plethora of NGOs looting the government purse might have thought to do what Occupy Sydney have done.
• We are 100% supported by the Public. We do not receive support from Oz Harvest or other Charity or Government organisations.The small funding we get is 100% crowd sourced -public and supporter gifts, and used to buy gas,Coffee Cutlery and other Consumables. 
• We are at once a Political Protest opposing Corporate Greed and a Proactivist Community supporting Homeless and at risk of Homeless people with FREE FOOD HOT DRINKS BLANKETS and CLOTHES,
• Do you think Homeless and Hungry People deserve a 24-7 place to eat when they are hungry or get a hot cup of tea or coffee when they are cold and not when someone elses clock says they should?

The 5th July 2013 Raid on Occupy Sydney by City of Sydney and NSW Police

 At 2pm yesterday 17 July 2013 The City of Sydney assisted by jackboot diplomacy from NSW Police again raided Occupy Sydney taking all resources and targetting Food and Cooking equipment used to provide 24/7 Hot Food for Sydneys Homeless Community.

 Occupiers scrambled to reassemble and coffee was available by 4pm with full but limited service by 7pm

• The Raids are instigated by City of Sydney Council with NSW Police active participants in suppressing protesters and denying them the opportunity to secure equipment. Occupiers are routinely detained by police "as an imminent threat of breaching the peace," leaving Council workers free to steal Occupiers and resources.
• Over 100 blankets for Homeless have been taken by Council and immediately contaminated by placing them in rubbish trucks. Recent research has indicated that Council routinely collect homeless peoples belongings especially blankets in garbage trucks  sometimes returning them without appropriate sterilisation or health warnings
• To date over 1200kgs of Fresh Food has been stolen and immediately contaminated by Council who use unsanitary garbage trucks to transport equipment stolen. Similarly pots cooking equipment and shelter equipment essential to prevent bird droppings in food are wilfully contaminated by Council. They require expensive sterilisation before reuse.
• Police have actively prevented Occupy Participants from securing equipment, enabling the theft of those items by unquestioning City of Sydney Workers.
• No Notification in relation to any Civil or Criminal offences has been received by any Occupy Sydney participant.
• Police have ignored brutality by a Council Manager against a wheelchair using aboriginal elder Occupy Sydney participant

Another Police Raid on Occupy Sydney this Morning

  Occupy Sydney have called an emergency General Assembly outside the Downing Centre this morning following a dawn raid by NSW POLICE. A recent acquisition, an outsized box on wheels, has been declared property no grata and removed by occupiers from site. Police also removed property using a City of Sydney council truck to do so.
There were no arrests.
Complaints about the site are known to have been accumulating since last friday, when the current occupier group chose to relocate abandoning essential infrastructure (said to be have generated a council complaint). 
 All occupy supporters are urged to attend an emergency General Assembly at 9am at the Downing Centre (cnr Elizabeth & Liverpool Sts) immediately preceding Lilys Court case.

Occupy Sydney Constitutional Challenge gets underway

  The Constitutional challenge by Occupy Sydney began its somewhat drawn out sojourn through the High Court today with Occupy Sydney 's legal pivot Wenny again pulling everything together. Occupy Sydney are asking the Court to determine whether the Crown and City of Sydney are infringing on Occupy Sydney participants rights to protest by misapplying and wilfully misinterpreting regulations designed to deal with Camping and Staying Overnight. The case arises from the brutal suppression of the original Occupy Sydney occupation by over 100 NSW Police Riot cops in a pre dawn raid on October 23rd in what appears to be the first instance of riot police being used to enforce a City ordinance. In a tactical approach calculated to intimidate and cause fear amongst Occupy participants Assistant Commissioner Mark Murdoch sprung the assault unannounced, later claiming that "negotiations with leaders" had failed. Occupy Sydney has no leaders. Orders issued by Murdoch giving sleeping occupiers 10 minutes to gather posessions and leave were physically impossible to comply with and possibly illegal on that basis alone. Police then proceeded to brutally remove protesters while smashing protest equipment much of which they then threw in a dumpster truck. 

 The police focus on destroying Political banners placards and posters gives lie to the most disturbing aspect of the raid being the use of police to carry out the political will of elements within government . Occupy Sydney participants contend that police actions are beyond their role in society AND prioritise the desire to eliminate our peaceful protest over the rule of law. When government and police desired objectives are enforced in place of the law the state holds its interests superior to those of the people.  Tyranny becomes the order of the day and State Terrorism arrives. As participants in the Occupy Sydney movement we have seen the result as fear of police violence police intimidation and legal process consequences achiev ed via the subversion of law have caused many participants to back away from the subsequent  occupation. Many potential occupiers have expressed that they are deterred from occupying by fear of these consequences as police continued to raid the Occupy Sydney occupation up to four times daily. 

 The Occupy Sydney Occupation has successfully resisted an unrelenting and unprovoked stream of offensives by NSW police with much property taken and over 90 arrests. There has not been a single evidence based conviction of an Occupy Sydney occupier.  

Despite the NSW Governments strategy of driving fear among Occupy Sydney participants and supporters while raising the cost in material terms of delivering our anti corporate greed message Occupy Sydney remain committed to driving change from the pervading corporate dominance of society today while breaking down the barriers placed before us by pro corporate elements within government.
