Occupy Sydney Light Brigades are forming with an initial focus on the Stopping the Trans Pacific Partnership coming through the front door or the back door.
The video above shows you the big picture about how bad the TPP will be for you. But there's much more. Government's and Corporations don't have a preference as to whether they bring it in through the front or back door...and they're trying to do it in secret. The front door is by signing the agreement. The backdoor is by bringing it in in piecemeal scraps of legislation scattered across Federal State and local body jurisdictions. Some of which will bang the door shut on our freedoms.
Mandatory Data Retention will bring the TPP clause sought by Hollywood copyright holders through the back door if we let it. Under Mandatory Data Retention you will pay for your internet service provider to store your metadata for 2 years in case the government want to use it. There is nothing preventing government selling that invaluable metadata to any commercial interest should they choose to do so.

Mandatory Data Retention is one of several laws which are on the table or already enacted which will put the TPP in place via the back door.

Stopping the TPP isn't enough.
Peru has passed laws giving police immunity from prosecution for shooting protesters in the immediate aftermath of the Glencore Xstrata La Bambas strikes fiasco. The move has sparked fears among human rights groups that there will be no reprieve for any excessive use of force as the mining industry continues to push into indigenous lands in Peru.
New Zealand has given the Military powers to arrest protesters opposing mining or oil/gas drilling .
Australia is witnessing the prospect of the selectively applied Queensland VLAD laws becoming law in all States and Federally. We have seen the so called Anti Terror laws passed with scarcely a murmur.Today we confront the possibility that Mandatory Data Retention will apply to all our telephone and internet based communications effecting a mass criminalisation slur on all Australian people and businesses.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website states that The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) is one possible pathway toward realising the vision of a free trade area of the Asia-Pacific. One could and should conclude that it is by no means the only mechanism to implement the reality transnationals are demanding. The author suggests that it is imperative that those who oppose the TPP also oppose smaller implementations of the TPP goals within the wider legal framework. To not do so may well mean that ultimately we win the battle to Stop the TPP but in doing so lose the war we never considered.

The Trans Pacific Partnership which the Australian and eleven other Pacific Rim Countries are considering signing FORCES you to do all of the above and more. The SECRET negotiations (by elements of governments and transnational corporations} are known to the public only via a series of leaks.
The Trans Pacific Partnership will give Trans-National Corporations such as Monsanto and Chevron (Caltex) the right to sue for compensation if a future government passes laws which inhibit their desired business strategy.For example Laws which place greater environmental protection responsibilities or exclusions on Extractive ( CSG , Tar Sands , Mining Logging ) operations. Or Laws banning Genetically modified cropping and the application of toxic Roundup.
The Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement sought by Australia and the US will extend the life cycle and application of Patents and Copyright.
In signing away YOUR RIGHTS and FUTURE GOVERNMENTS and CONSTITUENTS LIABILITY-WITHOUT CONSULTATION the Abbott Government follows in the muddy footprints of the former Labor Government down a path of government by consultation ONLY with vested Transnational interests.
This is what Prime Minister Tony Abbott and the Labor Party before him want to commit you-and Future Australians to-
the Trans Pacific Partnership could be an international agreement umbilically attaching Australia to the carcass of the dying US vulture. Heavily advantaging US based and other TransNational Corporations.
Without government telling you what they are signing away -in your , your childrens and your future generations name.

This pattern of corruption of our democratic system that must stop, Governments are at the employ of their societies and must act on our wishes. It is time we took our place with Non Violent Direct Action, together we are strong, the more People the stronger the People Power.
